Ok maybe it's could just be an idea. But I'm like addicted to dream high right now and in the monthly exam hye-mi (Suzy) sings a birthday song for taecyeon. I think I could slightly modify the lyrics for that song to fit your friend. Not only this but we can also do other covers and maybe you could burn them onto a disk and give it to him (you can also design the cd case jacket yourself and we can each write him a message, even though we don't know him)

and he loves SNSD (he's a guy ahah so yeah)

like an acapella version of try smiling- daesung
and lollipop?? (it's his first song in kpop so it's kinda touchy, but it's not sad so it'll cheer him up ^_^)
maybe an acapella version of "be good to you" by se7en (this was actually the first song he ever "watched" the video of, se7en and bi rain are his idols, cuz he's a dance-guy)
and some sad but also happy songs
